EARTHING SYSTEMS VERIFICATION DPR 462/01
Presidential Decree 462 of 2001 is a Decree of the President of the Republic, issued in 2001, which regulates the checks of earthing systems, electrical systems in areas with danger of explosion and lightning protection systems.
Presidential Decree 462 obliges those responsible for activities to have their earthing systems checked every 5 or 2 years. The activities subject to these checks are all those that have a worker within them.
Employers must appeal to accredited bodies to carry out periodic checks on electrical systems and keep the verification report that must be shown in the event of checks. Those who do not carry out these checks are punishable, administratively and criminally.
Workplaces at greatest risk in the event of fire, medical and similar practices, and construction sites are held every two years. All the others have a five-year periodicity.

Extraordinary Inspections can be carried out at the request of the plant manager, if a potential state of malfunction is detected, or whenever the system undergoes a structural change, modernization or restoration of safety conditions following a negative outcome of a Periodic Inspection.

Periodic Checks must be carried out on a regular basis as established by Presidential Decree 462/01 depending on the place of installation, and are mainly carried out to check the efficiency of the electrical and earthing system and the relative level of maintenance, paying particular attention to inspecting the components that guarantee their global, active and passive safety.
